Advocates at the ACLU of Illinois have been involved with a wide range of efforts to ensure that patients in Illinois are not discriminated against or denied services because of someone else’s religious beliefs. This work has included:
- Work to ensure that patients seeking care at retail clinics in Illinois are not denied care and information because the clinics are run by Catholic health care providers. You can read about some of this advocacy here; and
- Litigation related to the Affordable Care Act’s contraceptive coverage requirement, including Korte, et al. v. Sebelius, et al., Grote Industries v. Sebelius, and Wheaton College v. Burwell;
- Litigation to prevent pharmacists from refusing to fill prescriptions based on their religious objections, including Morr-Fitz v. Blagojevich.
