SB 929 – Public Act 95-007

Sponsored by Senator Ronen and Representative Ford, Senate Bill 929 allows providers to offer either written or verbal consent for an HIV test, mandates pre-test information (formerly known as counseling) be offered prior to testing, and retains the right to anonymous HIV testing. The amended version of this bill was drafted by the ACLU of Illinois in collaboration with other key advocacy stakeholders like the AIDS Foundation of Chicago and the state medical society.
