The following can be attributed to Lorie Chaiten, Director of Women's and Reproductive Rights Project, ACLU of Illinois:

“The Trump Administration today continues its all-out assault on women. The new rule announced permits a business owner to deny women across the nation and Illinois access to necessary medication – contraceptives – on the basis of the owner’s religious beliefs. This is not religious liberty; this is the justification of discrimination on the basis of religion.

Birth control is critical to women’s health, equality and economic security. Giving women the power to decide whether and when to have children has a direct effect on women’s ability to determine their future – in terms of education, career and family.  The Trump Administration appears to believe that employers should have the power to take these decisions from women. This is not a debate about contraceptives. It is about women participating fully in our society.”
