Please join the ACLU of Illinois for our annual Lunch on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 12:00 PM. The event will be held in person at the Hilton Chicago and a virtual livestream will also be available. We are looking forward to gathering with members of the ACLU community from across Illinois to celebrate the work of the past year, recommit to the ongoing fight for civil rights and civil liberties, and raise funds critical to our work. The program will feature keynote speaker Busy Philipps on the fight for reproductive rights nationwide and engaging the next generation of civil liberties advocates.

The program will also include a performance by Young Chicago Authors Poet Chima “Naira” Ikoro as well as remarks from ACLU of Illinois Executive Director Colleen K. Connell, and Cook County Public Defender Sharone R. Mitchell, Jr.

Keynote Speaker

Busy Philipps (she/her), ACLU Artist Ambassador for Reproductive Freedom

Busy Philipps (she/her) is a New York Times Best-Selling author, actor, activist, writer and previous late-night talk show host of BUSY TONIGHT. Philipps served as executive producer on the show, alongside Tina Fey. In 2018, Philipps released a collection of humorous autobiographical essays in her book THIS WILL ONLY HURT A LITTLE that was immediately a New York Times Best Seller the first week. The book offers unfiltered and candid stories and was published by Simon and Schuster’s Touchstone division. On the big screen, Philipps currently be seen in Paramount’s feature adaptation of the Broadway hit MEAN GIRLS: THE MUSICAL, where she will step into the iconic role of “Mrs. George,” alongside Renee Rapp, Tina Fey and Jenna Fischer.
