House Agriculture Committee AGAIN Legislating on Women's Reproductive Health
Wednesday, 9:30 a.m., Springfield - In an extremely swift hearing this morning, the House Agriculture Committee again passed legislation, sponsored by Representative Senger that regulates provision of women's reproductive health care in Illinois - seeking to regulate abortion out of existence. The committee passed an amendment to HB 2321 (which now replaces HB 3156) that would place unnecessary,discriminatory and burdensome regulations on clinics that provide abortion services.

ACLU Protests Bills Designed to Ban Abortion in Illinois
According to an article Wednesday in the Naperville Sun, Senger sponsored a bill that would require abortion clinics to be retrofitted to resemble outpatient surgery centers, meaning equipment such as defibrillators and ventilators would be required and hallway and parking lot dimensions would change.

IL Agriculture Committee Votes to Restrict Abortion Access
Abortion-rights activists attended the Committee vote wearing shirts and buttons saying, "Women are not livestock." Colleen Connell, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Illinois, clarified, "The voters of Illinois do not endorse this radical agenda. Voters recently rejected a gubernatorial candidate with a solid, anti-abortion record because they want the state's leadership to focus on fixing the budget and creating jobs."

Not Again!
House Bill 2093 imposes on private and government employers burdensome training and compliance obligations regarding abuse and neglect reporting, even for staff that have no contact with patients seeking birth control, birth control counseling, sex education, gynecological care and services, abortions, abortion referrals or abortion counseling. Current law already contains rigorous reporting requirements for licensed health care providers, including doctors, nurses and social workers. Imposing these obligations on office staff and secretaries is nothing but an effort to burden these service providers. Download the fact sheet.
