The ACLU and ACLU of Illinois are built for this moment – but the fight to protect and expand rights and civil liberties for every person in Illinois will take all of us.

With the help of supporters and activists like you, the ACLU has confronted and overcome attacks on our rights for more than 100 years and we’re not backing down now. Together we’ll make sure that “we the people” really does mean all of us.

Against the backdrop of a second Trump presidency, we remain committed to defending civil liberties and keeping Illinois a sanctuary for democracy.

There are many ways you can be part of this work in Illinois!

Join us in the fight:

  • Be a part of an ACLU Chapter or Community Group: Join the groups of ACLU supporters across the state ready to fight for the protection of civil rights and liberties in their local communities.
  • Become a Community Activator: Step up as a leader in your community and rally your networks by helping us amplify pressing civil liberties issues and inspiring actions across Illinois.
  • Join the Next Generation Society: Become a member and join other activists, artists, emerging leaders, and engaged community members to learn about, support, and advance the important work of the ACLU.

  • Request a Speaker: Bring the ACLU’s work to your community, workplace, or organization by submitting a speaker request.
