The following statement is in response to President Trump's order to ban transgender individuals from military service and can be attributed to John Knight, ACLU of Illinois LGBT and HIV Project Director:
"On Friday, Donald Trump’s White House moved forward with his Twitter threat to impose a discriminatory ban against transgender service members who want nothing more than to continue doing their job to protect our country. This ban is cruel and arbitrary. Its does nothing to make our country safer, but rather hurts our military and our country in general. It is also illegal, which is why we expect to see the administration in court."
