Virtual Town Hall: Birth Control and the Supreme Court

July 9, 2020 @ 5:00 pm 5:30 pm

WATCH A RECORDING OF THE VIRTUAL TOWN HALL

Yesterday, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled in Trump v. Pennsylvania, that the Trump administration can institute broad exemptions to the birth control benefit of the Affordable Care Act. As a result of this ruling, employers and universities can refuse employees and students insurance coverage for birth control based on a religious or moral opposition. Those who work for these employers or attend these universities will be forced to pay out of pocket for their birth control, robbing hundreds of thousands of people of their no-cost coverage.

This decision is the latest step in the Administration’s efforts to undermine access to reproductive health care across the country.

Join us TODAY from 5:00 - 5:30 pm to hear from Ameri Klafeta, the Director of the ACLU of Illinois Women’s and Reproductive Rights Project, as she discusses this ruling and how it will impact the State of Illinois. You will have an opportunity to ask Ameri questions about this decision and how we must remain vigilant in Illinois, even after enactment of the Reproductive Health Act.

You can join the event at 5:00 pm CDT on your laptop tablet or mobile device by using this link: https://zoom.us/j/96858629860?pwd=aGxCQ1c0cnhPcFp0MlhWYm9Sa0NTQT09
