Advocacy group Access Living produced this heartwarming video titled "Olmstead - A Case for Community Support" which chronicles the Illinois disability rights community's fight to give people with disabilities the choice to live in their own homes, and not be forced to live in institutions.

The ACLU of Illinois has worked with Access Living and Equip for Equality over the years to uphold the Olmstead ruling, which determined that states are required to provide community-based treatment, and that the unnecessary institutionalization of people with disabilities is unconstitutional. Three cases, Colbert v. Quinn, Williams v. Quinn, and Ligas v. Hamos, sought to defend the rights of people with disabilities who were being needlessly institutionalized.

Through this partnership, hundreds of Illinoisans with disabilities have been able to move into their own homes.
