HB 648 – Public Act 96-0658

Sponsored by Representative Davis and Senator Meeks, House Bill 648 lifted a sunset imposed in prior legislation on traffic stop data collection to address racial profiling and continues the data collection for five years. The legislation amends provisions of the Illinois Vehicle Code requiring the recording of specified information when a uniform traffic citation or warning citation is issued and providing for analysis of the information and a traffic stop statistical study.
