The Chicago Sun-Times published an article about the recent announcement that the Illinois Supreme court has agreed to hear an appeal from the State of Illinois in a lawsuit brought by the ACLU of Illinois challenging the Illinois Parental Notice of Abortion Act. The act would require a medical provider to notify an adult family member 48 hours before performing an abortion on a minor.

But Lorie Chaiten, director of the Reproductive Rights Project for the Illinois branch of the American Civil Liberties Union, said she’s confident the case will be sent back to lower courts for a complete review of “evidence demonstrating that the real-life harms this law imposes cannot be justified.”
