The ACLU of Illinois has filed an amicus brief on behalf of attorneys representing terrorism suspect Adel Daoud from Chicago. An appeal was filed last week in the U.S. 7th Circuit Court to uphold a trial judge's previous ruling that would allow the attorneys access to court records filed in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA).

The lower court's ruling, if it withstands appeal, would allow defense attorneys to comb through the government's application asking the secret court to allow FBI and other agencies to spy on Daoud as part of the government's investigation.
