Give Together for Reproductive Rights and Access in Illinois

This year, we have seen continued attacks on access to reproductive health care across the nation, and supporting ongoing efforts in the courts, legislature, and on the ground is more important than ever.

The ACLU of Illinois is celebrating Giving Tuesday by highlighting partner organizations that are helping people access reproductive health care in Illinois. We accomplish so much of our work in coalition with many partners who are doing critical work throughout the state.

Please consider learning more about and donating, if you are able, to these organizations. These are just a few of the organizations doing essential work to help people access reproductive health care, and we encourage you to research other organizations and efforts in your communities as well.

We will feature these organizations throughout the day on Tuesday, November 30th. Join us by following us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter so you can help highlight these great organizations!

Chicago Abortion Fund (CAF):

The Chicago Abortion Fund (CAF) is a reproductive justice organization dedicated to helping people pursue reproductive freedom and exercise their right to decide if, when, and how to parent. CAF provides financial, emotional and logistical support to people seeking abortion care and will support over 2,500 people this year, over half from outside of Illinois. Together we are building power to create the future we deserve, one where everyone has access to both abortion care and parenting resources with compassion, respect and dignity—no matter who you are, where you live or how much money you make.

Chicago Volunteer Doulas (CVD):

Chicago Volunteer Doulas (CVD) is a birth justice organization providing comprehensive doula support with a focus on vulnerable communities in the Chicagoland area. We are a grassroots network of birth workers and allies who recognize that disparities in birth outcomes exist for parents from vulnerable demographic and social groups. Our goal is to foster a birth environment where laboring mothers and parents in Chicago are informed, supported, and empowered, and therefore better positioned as health advocates for themselves and their families. CVD is the only non-profit organization in the Chicago area providing this kind of support to pregnant people of all childbearing ages. We have a multi-faceted vision for what birth justice would look like including but not limited to: accessibility for all to quality prenatal, labor, and postpartum healthcare and non-clinical support, lower rates of birth trauma and cesareans, and the normalization of birth as a pregnant person-centered event. We do this through five programs: On-call Doula, Traditional Doula, Postpartum Doula, Peer Doula, and Mentor Doula.

Our programs affirm people's lived experiences and emphasize health education, creating environments in which people feel truly seen, heard, and equipped to make informed decisions. All services are offered on a sliding scale - services that include primary care, gynecology, counseling, trans health, and comprehensive sexual health education for youth.
