In every election cycle, each vote matters. Races at all levels often are decided by a handful of votes, with great consequences about policies that affect our lives. Still, too many of our fellow citizens – eligible voters – do not take time and energy necessary to register – and to vote – in elections each year.

Most important, our vote affects policies – helping to assure that the government we elect reflects our values.  From the levels of funding for critical functions like education and infrastructure, to fundamental issues of human dignity and human rights – policies from the treatment of immigrants and asylum seekers, to the ability of women to make the decision about when and whether to become a parent.

These decisions are made in city halls, state legislatures, the United States Congress, and every other level of government. And so, we must vote in every election like our rights depend on it – because they do!
