Sapna Khatri is an Advocacy & Policy Counsel at the ACLU of Illinois, focusing on privacy, surveillance and technology issues. She began the role at the beginning of 2020, bringing her experience in tech journalism and corporate privacy compliance and litigation to this work. Just this year, Sapna helped develop privacy-protective guidance for decision-makers across the State of Illinois as they implement contact tracing measures during COVID-19, and is leading efforts to explore the impact of automated decision systems used by the government. Sapna began her legal career as an attorney in the litigation arm of a corporate law firm, and joined the ACLU of Illinois in 2018 as a fellow in the Women’s and Reproductive Rights Project. She earned her J.D. in 2017 from the Washington University School of Law.
