• • We can take only a limited number of cases, and unfortunately must turn down some requests even when serious injustice has occurred.
  • The ACLU of Illinois solely takes cases where the incident occurred in the state of Illinois, or cases involving residents of Illinois. If the incident occurred outside Illinois please contact the local affiliate, which you can find at www.aclu.org/affiliates.
  • We are not a provider of general legal services; we only litigate select cases involving civil rights violations, often by the government. We do not practice criminal law, family law including divorce and child custody disputes, tax law, and landlord-tenant law.
  • The ACLU of Illinois cannot provide legal advice unless the organization has accepted your case and agreed to represent you. Nothing on this page should be construed as legal advice, and the receipt of and/or response to your inquiry does not indicate the acceptance of your case.
