2025 Local Election
Local elections are important in the fight to protect our rights and civil liberties. Up and down the ballot, candidates are seeking public offices that will impact civil rights and civil liberties in our communities and state. From policies that determine if ICE can enter your local school, to which books and events are available at your library – local elections matter. There are many important races on the ballot in the 2025 Consolidated Election which impact the rights and civil liberties for your community. On Tuesday, April 1, 2025 make sure to vote your values when you head to the polls.

Research the candidates on your ballot before heading to the polls:
- Find your sample ballot through your local election authority local election authority.
- Find out why the positions on your ballot are important for protecting your rights.
- Check candidates' website, social media, local news sources, or attend local candidate events to speak to the candidate directly.
- Check if local organizations that you support have endorsements or information on the candidate's position.
Request a mail in ballot
In Illinois, people previously involved in the criminal legal system are still able to vote. People with criminal records can still participate in elections as long as they are not currently serving time on a sentence and they meet all other qualifications. If you have been charged, arrested but not charged, in jail but not serving a sentence, or on probation, you are able to vote.
