April 2, 2008 - Springfield Civil Union Lobby Day
Will YOU stand up for Illinoisans like Patrick?
Will YOU come to Springfield on April 2nd to convince your legislator to pass the civil union bill which would protect Illinoisans like Patrick? Email Nick at nrutan@aclu-il.org or call 312-201-9740 x 339.
Illinois General Assembly is currently considering civil union legislation that will provide basic fairness to committed long term same sex and opposite sex couples and their families. Same sex couples are denied the ability to visit each other in the hospital, to make life-saving medical decisions for each other, or, like Patrick, to bury their loved ones with dignity.
The Illinois Religious Freedom and Civil Union Act would grant these couples the basic legal protections they need. But without YOUR voice this April, this important legislation will not pass.
Can YOU come to Springfield on April 2, 2008 to convince your legislator to stand up for fairness?
ACLU members and supporters will be traveling to Springfield each Wednesday in April to talk to legislators in target districts. Email Nick at nrutan@aclu-il.org or call 312-201-9740 x 339 to sign up.
When can YOU join other ACLU members on a visit with your legislator in their local office?
ACLU members and supporters will be visiting legislators in-district every Monday and Friday in April. Email nrutan@aclu-il.org to sign up.
We will continue to visit with each legislator until this important legislation providing necessary protections and responsibilities to ALL Illinois families is passed. Visit http://www.aclu-il.org/civilunion/ to learn more.
