April 22, 2008 - Making Our Schools Safe for LGBT Students

On Tuesday, April 22nd, a partnership of local Bloomington/Normal area organizations including the ACLU of Illinois will sponsor a public forum on this issue titled "Making Our Schools Safe for LGBT Students." The program, scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of Normal Community High School (3900 E. Raab Road) in Normal, will draw together educators, parents, students and concerned citizens to highlight the bullying and abuse of LGBT students in area public schools and explore “best practices” for insuring that all students find our school a safe, secure place to learn, explore new ideas and mature. Admission to the program is free. Friends, neighbors and family members are also invited to attend.
