July 20, 2006 - Springfield Freedom Files Screening

The Springfield ACLU presents "Dissent", a Freedom Files documentary produced by Robert Greenwald. Freedom of speech is synonymous with America, right? Not all would agree. Muslim hip-hop poet, Amir Sulaiman spoke his mind on national television and, as a result, found the FBI on his doorstep. Or what about the groups of protesters at both the Democratic and Republican national conventions who found themselves relegated to "free speech" zones far from the politicians with whom they disagreed?

Audience discussion moderator: Denise Gale, JD, retired Legal Counsel for the SIU School of Medicine.

Thursday, July 20, 11:30-1:00 PM, Lincoln Library, 7th and Capital, Springfield. Public invited.
