March 14, 2006 - Share a Meal with Community Shares

The 3rd Annual Share a Meal with Community Shares will be held at restaurants across Illinois on Tuesday, March 14, 2006. Sponsored by Community Shares of Illinois, a non-profit organization representing more than 70 charities including the Roger Baldwin Foundation of ACLU, this year’s event will feature participating restaurants in Chicago, Carbondale, Champaign-Urbana, Peoria and Springfield.

Currently, twenty restaurants, including twelve in the Chicago area and eight in downstate Illinois, have agreed to donate a percentage of their sales on March 14th to Community Shares of Illinois and its member organizations. Participating restaurants will donate 30% of the proceeds from the evening to Community Shares of Illinois. Using pledge cards provided at each restaurant, diners will also have the option to direct a portion of their proceeds to the Roger Baldwin Foundation of ACLU or any of the 70 charities that are members of Community Shares of Illinois.

Restaurants that have agreed to participate in this year’s event include:

Champaign-Urbana – Kennedy's, Milo's and Silvercreek
Chicago/Loop – 312 Chicago, Atwood Café, Cyrano's Bistrot and Wishbone
Chicago/North – Anne Sather, Atlas Café, Artemio's Restaurant, Heartland Café and Wishbone
Chicago/South –Noodles on 53rd and 57th Streets in Hyde Park
Flossmor - Northwoods Restaurant at Coyote Run
Peoria – Rhythm Kitchen
Springfield – Maldaner's and Tuscany
Southern Illinois – 17th Street Bar & Grill in Murphysboro and El Jalapeno in Anna, Illinois
