What does yesterday's election mean for civil liberties' issues and basic constitutional rights?
The counting of votes continues – but this much we know: When the new Congress convenes in January 2007, a new Democratic majority will lead in the House of Representatives and the Senate may switch hands as well.
Join us as for a dynamic discussion featuring Caroline Frederickson, the ACLU National Legislative Office Director, Craig Dellimore, Political Editor for WBBM AM Radio and other local experts as we discuss the impact of the election on reproductive health care for women, informational privacy, adherence to the rule of law in the war on terror with a special focus on the Congressional role in the system of "checks and balances."
Admission is free, but RSVP is required. To reserve your place, please email ysotelo@aclu-il.org.
WATCH YOUR MAILBOX: You are invited to the 2007 ACLU of Illinois Annual Membership Conference! Join us for a day of discussion and activism! Details to follow.
