Protect Comprehensive Sexual Education for Chicago Students!
In April, the Chicago Public Schools Board of Education passed the Family Life and Comprehensive Sexual Health Education policy, requiring schools to teach age-appropriate comprehensive sexual education to students. The Illinois Family Institute is organizing an effort against the new policy. CPS has been receiving a lot of phone calls in the past weeks objecting to this policy and asking the Board to reconsider.
We are asking those of you who are Chicago residents to counter this message by calling Arne Duncan's office and stating your support for the policy. Let CPS know that there is significant support among Chicago residents for this policy. And if you happen to be a parent of a CPS student, make sure to mention it!
The phone number to call is 773-553-1550. If you place a call to CPS, please let our Reproductive Rights legal fellow Leah Bartelt know by emailing her at lbartelt@aclu-il.org.
