Roe Day of Action - January 22, 2005

This January, as President Bush begins his second term and as we celebrate the 32nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we are asking you to help us build on the momentum of the historic March for Women’s Lives by participating in a Day of Action in Support of Reproductive Freedom.

You can:

  • Advocate for increased access to emergency contraception (EC). Survey your local pharmacies to determine if they stock EC and publicize the results. Send a letter to the FDA urging it to approve over-the-counter distribution of EC. (Dowload more information)

  • Send a letter to Congress opposing the Teen Abandonment Act, a bill that would make it a federal crime to help a teen across state lines to have an abortion if she has not already fulfilled her home state’s teen abortion law. (Download more information

  • Contribute to or start a community-based abortion fund. Abortion funds can make a crucial difference in individual women’s lives, making abortion services accessible when they are otherwise out of reach. (Download more information)

Circulate these alerts to your friends and ask them to join you in doing something concrete to protect reproductive freedom.

In addition to these action items, you can also educate yourself with our annual look ahead at Congress. (Download more information)
