The Chicago Tribune published an obituary for the former ACLU of Illinois Executive Director Jay Miller, who passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 3rd. The Tribune spoke with Colleen Connell, current Executive Director.

His passion for various causes helped land him on President Richard Nixon's infamous enemies list, a designation he relished, according to friends and family.

"He really felt that that established his civil liberties (credentials) in a way that nothing else did," said Colleen K. Connell, who took over as ACLU of Illinois' executive director after Mr. Miller's retirement in 2000. "It was absolutely a badge of honor for him."
