Members who donate at least $1,200 a year to the Roger Baldwin Foundation of the ACLU are automatically enrolled in the Freedom Council. Freedom Council members are invited to special events throughout the year to hear discussions on civil rights and civil liberties issues from those who write about them, defend them on the front lines, and promote them. Past speakers have included ACLU National Legal Director Steve Shapiro, Linda Greenhouse, Anthony Lewis and Dawn Clark Netsch.
