I’m happy to report that the Pride Parade was a great success! Over 40 volunteers, staff and interns showed up, and we all donned our purple shirts to march. It was a beautiful, sunny day, and the volunteers were treated to water and popsicles, which kept us all cool, or close enough, while we waited to get going. The Parade was very well attended, and spectators were happy (sometimes downright excited) to receive our gifts, which included T-shirts, ACLU beads, and stickers. (Check out the photos on our facebook page!)
Though some of us may be a little pink this week, I am sure that all the ACLUers were satisfied with the turn-out and our reception at the parade. We often received cheers as we passed, especially if our Statue of Liberty (a hardy volunteer offered to dress up as Lady Liberty) was waving to them. Thanks to everyone who came out with us, and making the event such a success. Look forward to seeing you next year!
If you can’t get enough of parades – sign up to join the ACLU at the Disability Pride Parade on Saturday, July 25th.

...they never, never vary. They have principles. They defend Nazis marching in Skokie. I admire you.
